ROBERT WALTER WILSON. CORPORAL RMLI8962 ROYAL MARINE LIGHT INFANTRY ON HMS BULWARK DIED 4 JUL 1904 AGED 24 OF PTOMAINE POISONING. HIS MOTHER WAS INFORMED OF HIS DEATH 11.7.04. AT REST IN PLOT A GRAVE 74 KALKARA NAVAL CEMETERY, MALTA.

Robert Walter WILSON, Corporal, Royal Marines Light Infantry, HMS Bulwark, died 4th July 1904, at Royal Naval Hospital, Bighi, of Ptomaine poisoning. Born in Liverpool on 27th November 1879, he enlisted on 12th January 1898. After basic training joined ‘E’ company, Plymouth Division. He was promoted to Corporal on 26th May 1903 and changed to ‘B’ company. Buried in Kalkara Naval Cemetery. His grave remained unmarked until 2004 when ‘Royal Marines in Foreign Fields’ Malta supplied a memorial
