Canadian soldier doing the search although shortly after the war he moved to England and still lives there, his name is Corporal Bob Roberts and lives in Bournemouth in Dorset and was 5 foot 6" at the time.
The German is Jakob Nacken, a 7 Foot 8" pre-war 'sideshow' personality who actually attended the 1939 New York World's Fair eventually returning to New York after WWII to become the "worlds biggest Santa Claus".
