Very interesting photo.
First time I have seen this one. They look like first batch German Afrika Korps. But thats a very big guesstimation based on the salacot shield on the soldier at the bottom right. Photo quality doesnt allow me to see clearly the muzzle of their rifles or any other detail on their equipment in order to say if they are German, Italians or British.
The length of the rifle, especially the bit forward of the front handguard (barrel and cleaning rod) and the stock disc that changes the way light reflects on the stock as seen in the two rifles nearest to the camera imo makes it a certainty that they're K98ks. No front sight hood either so likely early war, hoods were added starting in 1939 production guns.
