Thought I'd post this here. Danny was a family friend and was one of those blokes who you never thought would get old and leave us. I still remember as a kid me and my brother spending time round his house playing on his tabletop Space Invaders machine with his dog Dougal keeping us company while he and my dad went off on yet another of their runs.
Danny West obituary
The obituary gives a good slice of his professional life. We knew the person behind it all and will always remember his friendship and the help and support he gave our family in some less happy times as well as the good. But one of my favourite cock-ups was when Danny's face ended up on the G Sqn 40th Anniversary painting. As a G Sqn man himself, my dad would likely have had an opinion on how on earth a bloke from D ended up in it. Probably along the lines of "for fxck's sake".
I just hope that if he is up there he finds my dad and they both get back to their regular ten milers.
