And race swapping Historical characters, or mythical figures depicted as being a certain way, has been the bread and butter of the Hollywood/Netflix/etc... industry under the justification of "we must appeal to the modern audience".
It is not made to respect the source material, it is not made to respect the cultural view os the time, it is pure pandering. Even more so when the actors are mediocre at best.

So, yes. It is upsetting.

But some arguments in favor of such changes are "who cares, it is fictional, it didn't happen, it's just like He-Man or Marvel".

This said, Nolan is a good producer, IMO, I liked his "Dunkirk", so I might go and watch that movie.
