To me it seems they have both elements. Normal Parades and following freak show.
Then again, far left/right protests are not something kids should be exposed to either. But we still tolerate them.
They used to be dissociated and separate elements, "back in the days" that is (as in 15 years ago or so).
Now they merged, mostly thanks to the whole "identity policies" and normalization of "marginalized" groups such as the so called "MAPs".
Then you had the whole thing about drag-story-time to children, classes on sexual practices to underage kids, explicitly pornographic books in children libraries at school (which, once removed, triggered outrage from the "usual suspects" who jumped on the occasion to make a parallel with autodafés).
Political rallies however, and though kids don't really have any reason to be there either, are also different in the fact that they deal with abstract ideas.
Abstracts ideas those participating in the rallies don't fully grasp themselves, and you would be lucky to find one to explain in an articulated way any of the ideas being discussed in the protest.
But even more so abstract to children. To them it is just marching, shouting, chants, banners and flags, and then tear gases. Children won't understand anything beyond that.
However, having dude in leather g-strings or drags covered with dildos will throw at them images they can "relate to". They will see an human body on display, a human body you don't show to the public, human body simulating acts you don't do in public, etc...
