Hello dear model-making friends, I have a question for you that has been on my mind for a while: Anyone who has ever had to glue an aeroplane cockpit or the windows in a lorry will at some point be confronted with the question of which glue / adhesive to use for transparent parts in kits so that they do not become cloudy. I still have some Revell Contakta Clear in my collection, and I also had some Humbrol, but unfortunately it has hardened in the bottle and is no longer usable. What adhesive do you use for clear parts?

Ow! Flashbacks to getting horrid Testors or Pactra glue on clear cockpit canopies!

I've always wanted to try the Testors for clear parts, but don't know if it is available in Europe.

Yea, thats what I mean, in my experience all good glues leave their marks on clear parts. A Nightmare!

On Scalemates are no Vendors shown...

I remember a Ju 52 that I had to glue together with superglue. I had never used this glue for models before, but I was on holiday at my grandmother's and didn't know where to get any other glue. So I assembled everything with superglue. Except for a couple of fingers that got stuck together, it went quite well... Until I looked at the windows at some point and they looked like they were frozen from the inside... After that, the location of use was moved to Russia and winter camouflage was applied ;-)

PVA

I know it's just wood glue, but it will hold plastic to plastic just fine so long as you're not planning on carrying the model around by the canopy. And it won't cloud the plastic.

I've also used wood glue, but I really felt like you only had to look at it sharply and the parts would fall off again...

As long as it's cockpit canopies on modern jets, you can usually just glue them back on. However, if you have a Second World War bomber where the windows in the middle fuselage fall inwards...

I had tried once upon a time a colourless laquer/enamel, it was ok.
I must admit that I haven't tried it with enamel clear varnish yet. However, I've only been using acrylic paints for the last few years and don't know if I still have any in my collection... I'll have a look...

A friend of a german modellboard gave me tip. He uses this and is a fan of it: Ultra Glue - Ammo of Mig

He uses it for clear partsm photo etch and even for the pins of movable tracks...

I will give it a try, when i have to glue such things.
