I have no doubt if a structure like that does collapse its going to be very very bad for those downstream.
Now im not saying I trust the CCP to be telling the truth.....But alot of the reports about imminent collapse seem to be coming from people with axes to grind.

Yep, that's how it goes sometimes. Some people have an axe to grind and some people hide the axe. But this story is starting to build and the actual monsoon season hasn't even started. I figured it might be a good idea to start a thread on the topic where info can be posted.

I'm not sure how that relieves the pressure as from all the info i can find it is down stream of the 3 gorges dam anyway?
Spose if there are less restrictions down stream they might be able to release faster?

Not sure. Maybe preparing for the TGD crest which is expected any hour now.

I don`t think the dam will collapse even with all the issues they had with shady construction and the meters deep cracks in the dam.

The main problem is that the dam can only hold back 45 % of the Yangtse floodings.

They should have built more canals instead and regulate the planning permissions on the shores of the rivers susceptible to floodings.

But that is one of the problems state-directed economies have.

I think the main CCP purpose for the dam, was to hold the water in China before it naturally made it;s way throughout Asia, and have it in reserve in case of a drought.
