Yea you would be pretty screwed if on one day its even 25% and then your competitor bought in at 10%" base rate " AKA VAT
Being said the importer whom will have intimate knowledge of market and product may have the lucrative oportunity to manufacturing. Don't feeel much pity for those that whine about it when they told the manufacturers to suck it up get efficient when they bought in low labour cost products from overseas that obviously put Amreicans out of work.
Irony is many of them were manufacturers.

Actually, 145% on everything and 20% on certain electronics.Buffoon folded already, now Usa doesn't have tariffs on China but China does on Usa, art of the deal

I don't know but I've heard, that if the companies tried to manufacture those same products from chinese components in the US, the tariff would be 145%.

I hadn't heard that. But anything that you have tariffed that high, pretty much means you don't want it. It's far past revenue generation.
Covid helped change things. Chinese should have been honest. Listening to Trump, he'd like Iran to be great again but if not and in the same questionnaire responds to China tariffs? with I used to get on with Xi but after covid it is a bridge too far.

Surely this isn't Trump's next attempt to pump and dump the market again for himself and his billionaire friends.
Surely he wouldn't let the market crash all day, and then 2 hours before close change his mind again, but make sure to tell his billionaire friends 20 minutes beforehand.
