Some of a collection of images sent to me by a gentleman in Kazakhstan, who I bought some Soviet era militaria from. I don't know how he came by these, or if any are of him and his time serving there. I though I'd share a few, starting with some of the Mi-24 photos.

I think these chest rigs were made from life jackets with the buoyancy elements removed

I guess they started to appear as a result of the Mujahedeen starting to use Stinger. No idea if that was what prompted their development or introduction, or if they already existed

The first pickup is a Jeep J-10. The giveaway is that the roof slightly overhangs the windshield. Great pics and I hope for more!

Thank you! Not familiar with that vehicle at all, let alone in this context. The Kazakh chap sent me an SD card with 2835 photos, but unfortunately most are not that great, (either quality or subject matter ).

I'll keep trawling through them though.

Czech ZB.vz-30 chambered in 7.92 x 57mm Mauser. One of the 2000 sold to The Kingdom of Afghanistan in 1938, I assume 'liberated' from the Mujahedeen?

AGS-17 30mm AGL

RPG-26, with GAZ-66 4x4 truck in the foreground and 120mm M1943 (?) mortar in the background. Same dude as is playing with the ZB.vz-30, I believe
