Politics Soldiers seize Mali President Ibrahim Boubakar Keïta

Earlier this year, some Malians were protesting the French presence in Mali:

Down with the French politics in Africa:

With the West Africans, it´s a mystery what they want. 60 years of independence and it´s still our fault. a tinpot dictator takes over, our fault. A coup? our fault. Corruption? our fault. Too much rain? Our fault. Not enough rain? Our fault too...

Essentially, yes. So much potential and ressources in Africa as an entire continent and yet the vast majority of their leaders are corrupted tinpot tyrants.

Some people will argue that certain populations « need » « strong leaders ». I believe that the Africans, regardless of their leaders should at best arrest them and put them on trials. Why? Corruption, Bribes, A joke of a « democracy », the list goes on and at worst eventually hang them.

It seems, though, France can't help itself but have a sort of paternalistic behavior towards African countries, especially if they are former colonies.

It's not just the elite though. Corruption and tribalism is endemic throughout all layers of the population. Hanging the head doesn't help when the entire body is rotten to the core.

As for Mali we saw how well they handled themselves before the French moved in.

It was bad, then went a bit better when France arrived, and now it is bad again. Though France is here to help.

Someone made a mistake sending bag full of money for disposal of the president to the wrong address :D

The two soldiers died after their armoured vehicle hit an improvised explosive device on September 5. A third soldier was wounded in the explosion.
In its statement announcing the death of the two French soldiers, the president’s office reiterated France’s calls for a swift transition of power to civilian rule in Mali.
