Thanks for the support Orange Man.
The way I see it, the Americans aren't wrong to expect that Europe should shoulder the lion's share of the burden here. What irks me is something else entirely: Now that we're bankrolling the war effort, why does Trump think he should be the one dictating Europe's terms?

So … the IOC banned a Ukrainian athlete for displaying the likeness of Olympians slain by Russia on his helmet. The Olympic Games are no place for politics, they said. Nevertheless, the IOC is making money by selling this:

Since blocking Starlink from the Russians, it seems the ukrainians are gaining ground. always have to be careful here but you hear about 16km advancement...The Russians seem to have huge communication issues.

Nah, they just shot themselves in the foot with this:

Time for Europe to start securing Europe. You don't have to like it, but time to move out of the house and get a job.
That's because the Americans (not just Trump) want to have their cake and eat it too. In reality it's either/or.

Either the US pays it's share for collective defence and doesn't question Article 5 or Europe pays fully for all European NATO expenditure and the US loses it's say in European policy plus a significant share of the arms market.

It could be the latter. Things are changing. It's obvious even to the casual observer.

Not smart to use that stuff as spray tan 🤤
Nasty stuff, that. You were exposed to it whether you humped the bush or not. Foremost milk came in country as powder form. It was then re-constituted with water from the Mekong... in which was tons of AO washed down from far upriver. Meaning, if you put Foremost milk on your Wheaties, you were ingesting the crap!

Some form of the latter will be the case after a grace period. This will of course have loads of unforeseen consequences, such as EU federalization, unless EU manages to run itself aground faster than federalization happens.

Which would suck even more than now, trying to handle foreign trade deals country by country.

Even bigger thing than equipment is going to be creating alternatives for US IT services. We even had some of our voting registers planned to be moved to cloud. They came to their senses in the end...

Yeah, not fully thought through that one ... at any level 🤦‍♂️

It very well may be.

Maybe we keep NATO but things are different. I wouldn't be bothered if NATO's SACEUR was European.

Unscramble our mess of European bases, but take OAR more seriously? Dunno.

I am glad V Corp forward HQ is in Poland not Germany. They seem to be more rooted in reality.

I see a presence in Poland for the foreseeable future.

"Ukraine carried out a coordinated series of long-range strikes across Russia overnight, hitting energy infrastructure, ammunition depots, and key industrial targets — even as Moscow talks about restraint. We’ll break down what was hit, why it matters, and how Ukraine is reshaping both the air war and the battlefield balance. At the same time, Russia launched its own overnight attacks — and Ukraine’s interception rates tell an important story about evolving air defenses. This was a consequential night." - Professor Gerdes.
