You just said you want to impose it on all EU countries. Doesn't leave much carrot to not import.

So how are we supposed to force countries like Hungary, for us to not face this.
If eu did everything, and only Hungary was importing, I think trump would sanction Hungary. A quick google will tell him their top 5 exports. Also this is mixing up reality with the threat, it’s the threat that will bring putin to the table.

Let me know when Rachel and Scarlett come over, I'll swing by and give you a hand. I mean, what are friends for. ;)

There are two schools of thought regarding Putin.

1) The war must continue for him to hold power.

2) He needs an off ramp soon, but must craft it in a way where it looks like victory.

I subscribe to number 2. Cutting off oil revenue certainly puts tremendous pressure on him and his buddies. Hard to get in that farker's head though. Even if the war continues, no oil revenue only helps the cause.... immensely.

50 unflagged oil tankers sinking in one night? Now that would be a lot of bad luck. :)
Same 2. Some of this time is for putin to craft his explanation, primarily for internal consumption.

If it was option 1, putin would be telling trump to shove it.

I’ll let you know on the dinner front….

Russia is currently caught up in severe inflation. Officially, their inflation rate stands at "only" 8%; however, their central bank has raised interest rates to a whopping 21%, revealing the 8% is a blatant lie. The Russian credit market is virtually dead.

Everyone directly or indirectly involved in the war effort (whether as a soldier or factory worker) is making a fortune, with industrial fitters now earning seven times the average income. In contrast, everybody else is increasingly struggling to make ends meet.

So, there's a large part of the labour market working at unsustainable income levels, speeding up inflation. They can't go back to previous levels (nor will they wanna go back), a situation mirrored by a significant chunk of the Russian corporate world that's been repurposed to serve the war effort. Imagine you used to build garden tools at a bottom-line profit margin, and now your factory produces tank parts at cutthroat prices. There's no turning back the clock here, is what I'm saying.

A huge bubble has been formed, and it's getting bigger with every passing day. Every politician loyal to the regime as well as every Russian businessman who wants to make a profit needs this war to continue. Because as soon as it ends, they're going to have an immediate two-digit recession on their hands.

Maybe this explains some of Donny’s offer. Russia’s economy was a shambles before- anyone ever see a Russian fridge in the eu? They were building old Renaults, as ladas, now Chinese cars. Countries do specialise, but any reasonable size country has multiple exports. Russia had and has only one, oil and gas.

But its a great asset. The underwritting insurance policy when coupled with their apparent geopolitical intrigue for the US.

Yes, it's a war time economy. Definitely a bubble and unsustainable forever. But if the cash from oil dries up, there will be a problem.

Not sure what the situation is right now, but the Russian arms industry worked very different from most other countries prior to the war. Arms exports had a hefty premium tacked on so that production for domestic use could have fixed prices. The government simply said we need U amount of X by Y and we'll pay you Z. No renegotiations for price what so ever no matter what. Beg, borrow and steal if you have to, but it will get done by the original stipulations in the contract.

Of course that led to inferior products that had severe design, QC, inferior storage, shipping material etc issues. Right now with the war putting the focus on the sector anyone caught having these issues will get thrown out of a window.

I really wouldn't be surprised if fixed (too) low prices were still a thing with sub-contractors paying the price.

And at that point the frozen assets will also begin to have an effect.

An episode of the use of the Russian BMP-3 in combat operations in Ukraine. The location of the shooting is not reported. In the video, the Russian BMP-3 delivers an assault group and provides cover for it during landing. After the assault group lands, the BMP-3 retreats to its original positions. In this version, the BMP-3 is equipped with homemade protection like the Tsar-mangal. At the end of the video, an episode with the storming of one of the houses is added.

Don't know how you get to that conclusion. You must assume some benevolence or rationality in the regime planning to restore the greatness of Russia. Or that the situation somehow was forced on them.

Older article but just the headline says it all.

The US must be trolled into believing the Russian lies.

I mean how little strategic vision do you need to have to believe these things which are just plain impossible?

Its like a fraudster trying to tell you what he allegedly already knows to get information out of you to rob you.

In reality Russia has empty hands.

And it can't end the war because they can't get out of the war economy without crash.

What is happening now is that every second the West wastes with this show helps Russia.

And thats the only thing they ate working on they don't have anything else.

I still think Europe should create a Foreign Legion of illegal immigrants. Join the Legion or be deported back to your original $hithole. Round up about a million of them from the UK, Sweden, France and Germany. Give them moderate training and equip them. Tell them, once they get east of Ukraine's borders, whatever they capture is theirs. The new country could be called New Sh!tholeland. They would need women though....and goats.

Footage of strikes by Russian kamikaze drones "Geran" and ballistic missiles Iskander on Kyiv, on the night of May 24. The video also shows the work of the Ukrainian air defense Patriot, made in the United States. As reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, 245 drones out of 250 were shot down. But Ukrainian journalist and video blogger Anatoly Shariy published a video recording 20 strikes by Geran drones, shown in an accelerated version. The strikes by Geran drones were aimed primarily at the Antonov plant, where, among other things, UAVs are assembled. A representative of the command of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, reported that Russia had modernized the Iskander missiles, now the Patriot air defense cannot effectively work against them. According to him, the Iskander missiles now fire off radar decoys and attack the target along a quasi-ballistic trajectory. That is, now the missile maneuvers and does not approach the target in a straight line. As a result, Patriot air defense systems cannot effectively calculate the missile's interception point.

Yes a master stroke, train a million young men from war torn nations organize them and arm them... no blowback on this plan.
