In real life, I actually don't want Trump to give up on Peace.

But for the purposes of this forum, I'd love for him to simply walk away. Just drop the whole thing. Let the pieces fall where they may. Let's see who steps up? I'm guessing, no one. Oh, there would be some bluster and tough talk.

Until Trump, no one did jack $hit to end this war. And honestly, no one else will. You know it, and everyone in this thread knows it.
Trump did bring new dynamics in this war, but right now they are just running in circles. I would bet $100 on this forum's fund that this round will not end up in a ceasefire nor peace.

I agree, at some point if Trump cant get his peace, either just walk away or give Ukraine what it needs to bleed Russia dry. All this talking about Peace but having a toothless... or else... means nothing and will bring no results.

Interesting perspective. I know there is more hate for Trump in this thread than there is for Putin, Wagner or the NORKs which is a fascinating topic on it's own.

But what's really interesting is that you said, Trump will get his peace, or he walks away, or Trump gives Ukraine what they need to bleed Russia dry. Interesting because......you acknowledge that Trump is the only player here. Which is a fact. There is no one else trying, willing or able to end this. No one.

BTW, is Europe still buying Russian oil, either directly or indirectly?

If they gave Macron his telephone back, he would surely call Putin day and night with the same result.

I don't like Trump, but I still wish he somehow miraculously succeeds in bringing a peace that is just and lasting. I just don't see such in the near future.

A strong leader with executive orders over federalized EU would help in bringing Russia to the negotiating table, but Europe is allergic to it for some reason.

Im not saying Trump is not the only game in town, what I'm saying is he is a hindrance to the final result. The US is either in or out.

New footage of the use of the Russian Yolka interceptor drone in combat in Ukraine. It is worth noting that the Yolka drone was also used to protect the parade that took place on May 9 on Red Square in Moscow; one of them was spotted with an employee of the Russian Federal Protective Service. The video shows the interception of the Ukrainian Lelek reconnaissance UAV by the Russian Yolka interceptor drone. The location of the shooting is not reported.

Well in that case, it seems you think he should walk away. Which brings us back full circle. Fine, show of hands, any volunteers to take over?

I have to be careful of my Americanisms here, lest they be misunderstood, but here goes. IF my grandma had balls, she'd be my grandpa.

Putin's comments on the phone call said nothing about immediate talks. Trump's post about it mentions that talks are immediate.
It's almost like a real estate mogul is up against a former KGB agent. That would be a dumb plot even for a tom clancy novel.

Of the peace process or talking in circles with Putin? I think we have Macron for the latter and there's no peace process to be had at the moment since Russia doesn't feel the need for one, which has been made clear by the past 5 months. So the war continues until they do, unfortunately.

edit. Russia clearly doesn't feel the need to relinquish claims on unconquered Ukrainian territory nor their other claims.
And the US behavior of giving into demands before negotiations even start (nato membership) and trying to coax Putin to peace by potential trade benefits isn't working.

It must be a pain in the ass for the admin to admit that if they want some progress they will have to get tough on Russia, instead of Ukraine. So far they seemed unwilling to do so.

So nothing will happen most likely.

Or nobody has to takeover and we watch Russia and its allies win. So you get your much sought after peace, and hit on Zelensky.

"That call went exactly as the Russians needed it to go. They're playing for time, keeping up their maximum demands, all the while offering Trump an off-ramp of his own: That he should take their demands to Kyiv once again, and if Kyiv again refuses, he can withdraw and claim that Zelenskyy is to blame. With the 'memorandum', Putin was given more time. The word only means he wants preliminary negotiations to prepare true negotiations in the future. This buys him a few weeks' time. Time which the Russian military could use to seize further territory in Ukraine."

Europeans would worry the french and Spanish would send the euro army off to Africa, then invade Germany, or any other combination you care for…..hence countries near Russia have a big army, but France has nukes. Europe is held together by compromise, USA decided as a new country to have one strong leader in charge. Given the different histories it’s explainable, but yes it does seem to hinder European speed of decisions or action.
