The politician poised to be Germany's next Chancellor has announced that his administration will take a much more confrontative stance towards Russia. Friedrich Merz told weekly 'Stern' that he'll contact Putin after his inauguration and issue an ultimatum: "If you escalate, we'll match you." Merz plans to tell Putin that Germany will increase supplying arms to Ukraine and drop all restrictions, including those on strikes against targets in Russia. If Russia doesn't agree within 24 hours to stop targeting Ukrainian civilians, Germany will supply Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine. Merz also indicated that he's held talks with military and industry leaders to explore further options to match Russia. (Source)

Norks can't fight? Hmmm... sounds like Kim is emptying his prisons and "re-purposing" recruits who wash out of army training. If Putler is actually paying for Kim's problem children, he's not getting much of a bargain.

For the Norks, and any army, this is war training. For Kim, that might be the idea: get his soldiers battle hardened

Yep, reminds me of Saddam « 4th Army in the World », and the Norks are numerous as an army but haven’t been fighting in decades on the ground.

FAFO… but if some of those do come back alive, assuming they don’t flee to Western Europe whatsoever it’s a cunning plan from Kim to make them worthy soldiers.

Very nice of him, but what are Germany's military hardware production capabilities? I know that Rheinmetall produces a lot of ammunition, but what else would be sustainable?
Modern German military vehicles are too expensive and overengineered for Ukraine's needs. Their production rate is not super high either and there's a big backlog, as many customers ordered them.
If the current German government did not want to spend 2% of Germany's GDP on the military, why should the next one indebt your country and spend a lot of extra money on Ukraine? Please note that Poland has been hit by EU sanctions for exceeding the budget gap. Nobody wants to hear that we have to spend this money on the military.

As @Jake84 pointed out in another topic, it will be difficult to form a government in Germany after the future elections. If CDU/CSU forms a coalition with the Gründiots, the latter will hold the bigger coalition partner by the balls, so the future Chancellor will become unpopular pretty quickly.

The same happened to Scholzi who was a very popular politician before the previous elections. I've just heard a Polish analyst saying the current Scholzi's approval rate is 18%.

CDU/CSU gets my vote this time. FDP will likely try to get into that gov. But I won't gibt them my vote this time due to Lindners childish insistence on the debt "brake".

Money is needed to fight Russia on the battlefield and China on the economic side.

We are a market economy so nothing happens without financing.

Defence companies don't build large tank factories for procrastinators like Olaf.

All talk and no walk is pretty easy to spot on these political figures.

Betting on the storm passing by.

Otherwise the production will be sufficient if the means are provided.

I find it incredible how some people still believe what Russia writes about its economy. It has long since stopped releasing data and we know why.

Didn't vote this time but if i HAD to I would vote them as well. All other parties would stop sending weapons immediately.

North Korea has 4 million men standing army, they could arrest every general and high ranking officer in their entire army simply because they have weapons to do the job. It shows just how brain washed they are, they continue to be afraid of the leader and his henchmen. If they ever get enough, and I am certain they will one day, they will roll over that little fat boy like a steam roller. They praise his grandfather from the Korean war but he wasn't out there fighting in the cold, he to was a straight up dictator and slept in a nice warm bed each night dreaming about who he would kill next to make sure he was still the leader. The way you take down an army like theirs is to totally destroy their officer corps top to bottom. With today's drone technology that could be accomplished without any big effort. They have no sophisticated radar so they would lose all that long range artillery they race track to fire on the south within an hour or two. They have built firing positions and move their batteries constantly everyday knowing full well they will be the first target if they get froggy. The dummies don't realize all the sites are already targeted precisely and down to a science of knowing where there last location was and the location of the next set of sites. They aren't very bright at all. That was the first thing American forces did on our airfields in Vietnam was to map the location of the firing and pin it on a racetrack map. The cong thought they were smart by constantly changing the location each attack but the silly fools didn't realize you can hear the round leave their tube making it even easier to know where they were, you just called the tower and told them but I have a good idea the tower may have had a good location by seeing any light from the exact site. We actually caught one team before they had a chance to get back into cover and one gunship landed and stole their tube and ammo. They moved around in two man teams and never had any other protection because there were a lot of just farmers who reported any sighting of strangers in their area. They were paid for their reporting.

Their manufacturing is great, they are still adhering to the after war treaties of WWII and they have a set limit of equipment for their own air force and navy and army. I feel pretty sure I wouldn't worry about German ability to provide enough to fight Russian. Those numbers of 18 percent sounds like one of these American leftist msm idiots. There are probably a lot of Germans who would like nothing better than to kick Russia's ass. Russia murdered their entire Army in theater after they had no choice but to surrender. Never surrender to a Russian, they do not adhere to norms of any kind. I would hedge my bet with Germany and especially with Russia totally incapable of replacing anything they lost the past two years. The German forces are far superior to most European Nations in good training of their forces. Of course this is only my opinion. The Allies made a huge mistake in WWII deciding to supply Russia, Stalin killed more people than Hitler and most were his own people. It did not take long for them to turn their attention to targeting the rest of Europe and the Allies.

An episode of the movement of a column and landing of troops of the Russian BMP-2 in Novoivanovka, Kursk region of Russia. The BMP-2 as part of a column consisting of a T-72 tank and five BMP-2s broke through to Ukrainian positions in the settlements of Zeleny Shlyakh and Novoivanovka. The column split into two parts, during the movement of the column one of the tanks was hit by a strike, presumably by a drone, it is not clear from the video how much the tank was damaged. The video shows the landing of troops from the Russian BMP-2 in the village of Novoivanovka and the attack of a Ukrainian grenade launcher from behind a building, as noted in the video. The BMP-2 was attacked twice, the first grenade launcher strike was tangential, the second grenade launcher shot into the ground. The BMP-2 was not damaged and landed troops.

Even if Merz is not a "Sympatieträger" (Sympathetic figure) and CDU us not normaly what i vote for, but i think this time i dont have a choice... If Pistorius were up for election otherwise...
But no, he's good at his job as defense minister, I'd like him to stay there. It's been a long time since a capable person has held this post.
