I served on OP Granby with 23 Battery 2nd Field regiment Royal Artillery(note 23 Battery were actually 27 Field Regt RA but attached to 2nd)
I worked the Battery Command post in a battery of M109 155mm tracked guns. It was an experience for sure.

Hello, I am a newly retired University lecturer. I am researching all aspects of Operation Granby, so if you served please get in touch!

I was there, great hotel, food ok, locals ok, beach was quiet, nightlife was explosive, and I realised government can do anything it wants to do, and will find the money to do so. 3 medals, 10% pay rise and a month off when we got back.
