But back to Iran : what is conspicuous in the extreme tonight is the absence of security forces. The mullahs have warned demonstrations were liable of the death penalty, called on ordinary citizens to help maintain their terrorist order. And yet, protests are increasing, to the point protesters claim they are controlling Tehran. They well be right.
If that Ilyushin IL 76 is no longer on Tehran's airport tarmac, things look grim indeed for ayatollah Khameini.

trouble with being in the security forces, is that you and 29 buddies, are in some shithole town, you dont know it, you dont know anyone. If all comms are down, then probably yours are as well. So you have no clue what is going on.
You dont know if your other company has been wiped out in the next town. You dont know if tomorrows food and ammo run will arrive. All you have is some religious officer, telling you to shoot people. As the nazis found out, people dont really like shooting people.
Local pretty girls are walking by, offering you flowers......
