In the North, instead of just going to to your local polling station, showing your card, and putting an X next to the name of the person you are voting for, you must now do the following.

(These are actual instructions included with the postal vote forms).

1) To cast your vote, complete and return the enclosed ballot papers and declaration of identity. This is an all-postal ballot, there will be no polling stations in ******** in which you can vote. Read these instructions carefully to make sure your vote counts.

2) To complete your vote for the European Parliamentary election (white ballot paper), mark a cross (X) to the right of the name of the party or individual candidate of your choice. Vote once only on that ballot paper.

3) To complete your vote for the **** *** ******* election (grey-scale ballot paper) mark a cross (X) to the right of the name of the candidate(s) of your choice. The ballot paper tells you how many candidates you may vote for.

4) Put no other mark on the ballot papers or your vote may not be counted.

5) Mark your vote clearly and in secret. If you need help, or there is something you do not understand, please contact the elections office on ****** or e-mail ********* for assistance. Alternatively you can bring your ballot papers to the assistance and delivery point listed below where it will be possible for you to mark your vote in private.

6) After you have completed the ballot papers, place all of them in in the envelope marked A and make sure it is sealed securely. You need to place the ballot papers in the envelope A so that the barcode and number on any one of them show through the window.

7) You must complete the declaration of identity for your vote to be counted. You must sign the declaration yourself and have your signature witnessed. Your witness can be anyone who knows you. You can also have your signature witnessed by the council's elections staff at the assistance and delivery point listed below if you bring identification (ring ***** ***** to find out what type of identification will be acceptable). Council staff may also be able to make arrangements to assist you in your home, if this is required. Remember, if you do not return a fully completed declaration of identity with your ballot papers your vote cannot be counted.

8) Place the completed declaration of identity and the ballot paper envelope in the bigger envelope marked B. You need to place the declaration of identity in envelope B so that the return address of the Returning Officer and the number and barcode show through the window.

9) Please return your complete B envelope by post. Remember, for your vote to count it must reach the Returning Officer by 10 pm on Thursday 10th. June.

Page 2 repeats this in Question and Answer form, and threatens possible imprisonment for electoral fraud.

Watch out Folks, this could be heading your way.
(N.B. I've put it in the Joker Forum 'cos it seems the most appropriate).

When you get 60K a year salary and expenses, plus all the other perks, does that become an obstacle?
