You'll know I'm not beholden to eco doctrine, but frankly, I cannot understand the fuss about the return of the wolf to central Europe.
The right has a massive boner for this kind of stuff, every time I open the news, there's a"will no one think of the children!" kind of comment. About 1,000 wolves live in this country, mainly in the sparsely populated east, and not once have they attacked a human. In contrast, wild boars kill one or two people in Germany every single year, and no one bats an eyelid.
I'm not sure about other countries, but here, the law accommodates the concerns of rural communities so much they'll be given electric fences at the taxpayer's expense, receive public funding for a livestock guardian dog if they want one, and if a wolf does happen to kill your livestock, you'll be compensated.
