With the recent decision to revert back to CATOBAR for the other Ford class builds

Can carrier based jets built between 60s - 80s

Could they operate from the Ford with ease without needing any mods to the Airframe !!

Or would they need modded first !! ??

I don't think an actual decision has been made yet mate.

To remove the EMALS from the Ford class would require a complete redesign of major components, not just the catapults but also the weapons lifts and handling systems, major changes to the island and other areas.

The 2nd of the class is already far advanced in it's build and too late to change everything. It may be one of those issues only the Yanks can remedy i.e. throw money at it till it works.
