I am an unusual Falklands veteran, having served in the Royal Marines but as a musician and not a commando. Sent with my band members as medics, we undertook a host of different duties, including guarding Argentine PoWs and also playing music to keep the troops entertained on the Canberra during the long journey South.
My father was also in the Royal Marines, but he was killed at Suez just before I was born, so I inherited his name and followed him into the RM's
I have written an award winning book about my Falklands war which tells of the interesting, exciting, sad and funny experiences of musicians sent to a war and how i came back with a signed thank you card from the enemy. The book is called 'The Band That Went To War' if you are looking for a good holiday read!
I will be posting pictures in the Falklands section in due course.
