Mil News Current Iran/Iraq/US Tensions and Actions Unfolding

Not true. the two carriers were never off the Syrian coast. the closet they came was when transiting the Suez Canal at seperate times. They were operating in the western Mediterranean. In fact recently USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) was in port in Palma de Mallorca Spain and USS John C Stennis (CVN 74) was in port in Marseilles France after their operations in the western MED.

Thanks Popeye, interesting - the Israeli, Lebanese and Syrian media have all been saying otherwise - hence my comment.

Saw this this morning. Interesting that the US military news sources are not reporting this movement...yet.

USS Abraham Lincoln passes through Suez Canal

BRUSSELS (AP) — The Latest on the crisis surrounding Iran's decision to step away from the embattled nuclear deal with world powers (all times local):
2:20 p.m.

The head of Egypt's port authority says the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has passed through the Suez Canal on its way to the Persian Gulf amid an escalation with Iran.

The state MENA news agency quoted Mohab Mameesh, the Suez Canal authority chief, as saying he observed the passage of the carrier through the canal on Thursday morning.

MENA says the director also met the U.S. defense attache in Cairo, Gen. Ralph Groover, who had travelled to the Suez Canal area to check on the status of the U.S. warship.

The White House on Sunday dispatched the aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers to the Persian Gulf. On Wednesday, Rouhani threatened Iran could start to enrich its uranium stockpile closer to weapons-grade levels in two months.

Tired of western military moving into the Persian Gulf, just to manage "every-single-godamned-time" to drop the bombs on the wrong shore.

I don't think so. the US already announced that a carrier was being deployed to the region. And the Suez is a international water way. Kinda hard to maintain OPSEC...
Its a bit difficult to hide to be honest:rolleyes:

have they moved the B2's with the nice new bomb rack up to Diego Garcia yet?;)

Perhaps not yet. But B-52s are in Qatar..

The B-52H supports stability in the region by providing its unique capabilities to the dynamic defense posture. We'll see. Presently, Germany would not even be able to defend itself, let alone support other NATO partners.

Prepared to defend against what? I'm sorry but I don't see anybody knocking at our door in the foreseeable future. Besides that we're constantly supporting other NATO partners. See joined trainings or deployments like for example in the Baltics.

You're probably right. Germany should simply disband it's military. Totally not needed.

I'm not talking about totally disbanding it. Are you only able to think black or white or what?

There is "no one knocking on your door" right?. And apparently not now nor ever. Just disband, save the money and trouble. Those Swiss are pretty devious , though. Nah, don't worry about it.
