HMS Ark Royal (R09) was Britain’s post-war aircraft carrier of the Audacious class a much larger, more modern successor to the famous WWII Ark Royal that helped cripple Bismarck. She was laid down during the Second World War, but construction was delayed, redesigned, and modernized after the war. She was finally commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1955.
