Dimitar Spisarevski - the first and only Bulgarian Kamikaze. On 20 December 1943 a formation of B-24 Liberator and fighter planes headed to bomb the Bulgarian capital Sofia. Spisarevski and 35 other pilots took off in order to counter this attack. After running out of ammo during combat, he crashed his Messerschmitt Bf 109 into the leading bomber. Only the tail gunner survived.

Great photos Yankeebob, while scrolling through I noticed that these soldiers are armed with USSR AKM & AKMS rifles!

These photos are the first time I have ever seen the Bulgarian's field AKM rifles, since Arsenal only manufactures AK-47's. *Also another first to see Bulgarian troops using non Bulgarian-made AK's. I see some soldiers have added on various Western accessories, such as a Rail Adapter in place of the lower handguard, vertical pistol grip and Red-Dot Optics.

Great images Lusilu! More USSR AKM and AKMS rifles in use by Bulgarian soldiers, interesting!
* I have not uploaded all the photos from Lusilu, just the pics that display a better view of the AKM or AKMS rifle.

Well, some traditionalist would say this rifle was an AKM...quite the change from Mikhail's time ;-)
