Photos Vietnam Military Forces

Uh guys do you want me to translate the series about the Northern Border Defense conflict/war in 1979 or should I do the series about fighting in Cambodia? Let me know! ^_^

I wouldn't mind seeing photos from Sino-Vietnamese war of 1979. Heck, start a dedicated thread for this topic.

Why would I want u guys to believe that our military suck? If I wanna do that then I'll never post about weapons and just post about the soldiers.

I did not mean you specifically. You could check from the first page of this thread if you know what I mean.

no , the bigger one was made in Vietnam , the smaller one are Korean ex coast guard ship , the bigger one belong to DN2000 ( damen design for vietnam coast guard )Ship (2000 ton ) 4 are in service with the coast guard another 4 are in service with the fishery control ( sorry I forget they English name , in Vietnam it name Kiem Ngu ) those 4 are abit heavyer dual to heli hanger . dear berkut there are no modern Russian design big ship for Vietnam coast guard , Vietnam coast guard and KN fishery control ship are majority built in Vietnam , soon there will be a DN 4000 ( 4000t ) for the coast guard ( also built in Vietnam design by damen ) 6 1500t polish built guard ship ( low loan and tech transfer for those 1500t which I think we will built more in Vietnam to replace smaller coast guard ship ) another 6 1500t from japan low loan too ( maybe they wanted to see which 1500t design are better and hey more big ship = better cause Vietnam and china gona keep playing the water war and raming war every few year , oh and I forget the coast guard gona get another Hamilton this year or early next year ( not gift cause we have to buy them ( the 2 Hamilton unlike many think it not free gift )unlike the 6metal shark boat )

Vietnam first domestic built missile boat in the late 90s early 2000 only one was built and the project was cancel ( for 500 ton and 2000 ton frigate ) the one in the picture is a bps 500 belong to the 500t missile boat ( the frigate project name was kbo 2000 ) like any other new design ( order by Vietnam and design by a Russian firm ) it have many issue need to be fix and Vietnam don't have the cash or time to wait / fix the new design back in the late 90s and early 2000 . ( the ship problem back then was it cannot shot it missile while travel at full speed , the issue have been fix but the navy have chose and built the Mol class )

Vietnam marine landing operation during Vietnam liberation of Cambodia 1979 rare picture :) ( only few of the photo are on the internet ) there are more photo but they are either in the marine album that haven't been public or in the national archive or in the photographer private album that are in some storage box , not many people know but during the invasion of Cambodia in 1979 to removed Khmer rough from Cambodia Vietnam also used it marine / navy force and do a landing operation on large scale to cut off the Khmer rough from the back ( up to now day Vietnam is the only south east nation to have experience in how to do full scale war using all three branch and do massive landing operation ) the Khmer rough put up the tough fight to defend they shore line but they fail , all they torpedo/gun boat are destroy by our navy ship ( using American made and soviet made ship ) and they arty position and beach defend destroy by our airforce A37 /F5 . kinda sad there no video or more photo on the net

interesting to see the Vietnamese units using the American equipment they had, there is still equipment from this source in use, right?
only the LST ( the first picture one , the last one I think was scrap or lost in 1988 ) and UH 1 , M113 and V-150 are still in service , the rest of American navy ship that we capture from SVN are scrap in the 90 , same for the plane (F5/A37 VV ) ( rumor we sold our F5 to the Iranian ) , M41/47 M42 are in storage , m101 105mm , 155mm are still in used ( 155mm only used in small number ) , m16 are used by militia and some reserve in the southern , M18 ( a Vietnamese copy of xm carbin ) are used by rec troop , some are used by coast guard too

This satellite photo of Vanguard Bank that was taken yesterday should clear up any misinformation regarding the Vietnamese standoff with China - it also provides an accurate & and up to date view.

"S-VN" are Vietnamese ships while "S-CN" are Chinese ships. "DK1" are Vietnamese DK1 rigs that served as territorial outposts to mark Vietnamese sovereign claims.

As spotted nearby Vietnam's Tu Chinh reef area (Vanguard Bank as mentioned earlier)

China's Haijing 3901 is the world's largest coast guard ship - its seen here escorting the Chinese marine survey ship that appears in both photos.

There have been no real new updates on the situation though Vietnamese vessels continue to monitor the situation and conduct non-confrontational means of engagement. As previously stated, all rumors regarding Vietnamese naval manuevers are fake news - this is a matter involving the Vietnamese Coast Guard and Vietnamese Fisheries Resource Surveillance only.

Photos sourced from the fishermen.

As reported from "CT/KT", the well known and trusted anonymous source from within the Vietnamese community:

The current tensions off Vietnamese waters is showing signs of rising. Unlike Vietnam's original assessment, it appears that more large Chinese maritime vessels are making a presence in the area. Vietnam has already deployed more ships from Vietnamese Coast Guard and Vietnamese Fisheries Resource Surveillance operation in the region to the standoff-area.

No Chinese warships from the People's Liberation Army Navy have appeared.*

*negates the need for the mobilization of Vietnam People's Navy, despite rumors about naval exercises spread by a certain people from a certain country which turned out to be completely unrelated to this conflict.

P/s: Sorry for the late updates. Have been taking some final tests lately.
