Yeah, thanks, BZ. I'm not a particularly religious man, but I don't see why this should be a huge issue. Each plaque can show an individuals religious belief, if desired (although most don't have any overt symbolism). The giant cross isn't a problem for me, we are after all a mostly Christian nation, and I see it more as a "come check this out" signpost, rather than a call to a specific religion.

I believe we've got to respect the history, not the modern PC interpretation of the history. During the Rhodesian troubles I remember the UK government saying there would be no services for the Apartheid states that served in WW2 on Remembrance day. My step-dad said, F*ck that, we're going, and a huge crowd was there to show respect to the Rhodesians and South Africans that served in WW2. I was proud to stand and honor their service, regardless of the politics back in their home countries.

BEAUFORT, S.C. (April 25, 2019) —US Navy Capt. Eric Doyle, commanding officer of the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, flies in formation with an F-22 Raptor assigned to the U.S. Air Force’s F-22 Raptor Demonstration Team during a photo exercise above Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort. Four MV-22B Ospreys from VMM 268 Red Dragons successfully completed a trans-Pacific flight from Okinawa, Japan to MCBH Kaneohe Bay Hawaii, on May 2, 2019.
The flight demonstrated the United States Marine Corp's reach and responsiveness in the Indo-Pacific & its ability to get where they need to be within hours.
