Kathleen Wainwright 21 the survivor who have her evidence from a wheel chair in hospital said she was a specialist supply member of the W.R.N.S., and on Sunday April 5th was with her friend Miss Capon. She noticed people on the east side of a barrier and some climbed through but they decided to walk along. They did have to climb over any barbed wire. They found they could not get to the sea because of the backwash and turned back. They were going to climb over a barrier but did not as there was a crowd there and decided to walk further down to get through. It was a lovely day and they went further than they intended about a mile. They did not get until they got to a spot where the wire finished. The climbed through the barrier and that was a much she could remember
The Coroner: What was your intension? To come back to the sand.
Did you see there was a notice board? We saw a notice board, it was only two yards away. We could not read it. It was too far for that.
Had you any idea there was a mine field there ? No.

WREN SHOT IN BACK.
It has now been established that a number of shots fired at Miss Gertrude Canning the 20 year old Wren whose body was found in a ditch at a military camp at a West of Scotland town.
