William McWhinney

Extended Description
Sergeant William McWHINNEY who was born in the town (Bangor, Co Down), in 1837 He served with the 44th East Sussex Regiment and he was awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry on the 20th October 1854 during the Crimean War. He died 17 May 1866 aged 36. He is at rest in St James Cemetery, Dover, Kent.
