Rifleman 18303 William Hewitt McILVEEN, 11/13th Royal Irish Rifles, transferred to 22nd Entrenching Battalion.
Born 23 March 1896 at High Street, Comber to Joseph and Ellen Jane, nee Crowe. Irish 1901 census he was living with his parents at 20, Hill Head, Comber. 1903 his father (widower) remarried in Dundonald parish church to spinster, Jane Lowry. 1911 living with his siblings, father and step mother at 14, Railway Street, Comber. He was killed in action 29th March 1918 aged 22. A joint war gratuity was granted 15 March 1920 to his step mother, Jane and sister Harriet. He is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France. His brother John also fell
