William HERON. Rifleman 17865 Royal Irish Rifles.
Born 1893 to Thomas and Rachel Heron.
1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 28 Trevor Street, Holywood, County Down. 1911 with his parents and siblings at Ballycultra (Cultra) near Holywood, County Down. Occupation, domestic servant.
At the time of his death his parents were residing at Brown’s Park, Mario, Holywood, County Down.
Killed in action 1 July 1916 aged 23. His mother was granted a war gratuity at the request of her husband 12 November 1917 revised 30 September 1919.
Commemorated on a family headstone in Old Priory Churchyard, Holywood. At rest in Mill Road Cemetery Thiepval, France.
