WARDLE Samuel, Private TN63183, 85th Training Reserve Battalion. Burnt Record. Enlisted 13th July 1917 aged 18yrs occupation Braid Tenter!! (Mill Hand)Address given as 31 Alsop Street, Leek, father's name Samuel. He had his enlistment medical at the recruiting Medical Board, Booth Street, Stoke on Trent, He was addmitted to Military Hospital, Catterick and was discharged from the army "No longer physically fit for war service" He suffered from Chronic Bronchitis which started about 1903 when he was fours years of age. He was awarded the King's Certificate on his discharge and the Silver War Badge.
He is at rest in Leek Cemetery
