Vincent Joseph ASHMORE. Sergeant (Wireless Operator) 1580565, Royal Air Force (VR). Son of Timothy and Sylvia Ashmore, of llkeston, husband of Violet Ellen Ashmore, of Ilkeston. Died 20 February 1944 aged 21 years.

At rest in Park Cemetery, Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

20 February 1944 (20/02/1944) Whitley (Bomber) LA927 of 42 Operational Training Unit Crashed at Upper Longdon after hitting a tree during a forced landing. Its crew of four were killed: Sgt William Ivor Roberts, Sgt Fredrick Hill, Sgt William J Constable, Sgt Vincent Joseph Ashmore
