VD1 CARMEL CORDINA. PAUL DEBONO. JOSEPH GALEA

Extended Description
CORDINA CARMEL. Gunner 10069, Anti Parachute Squadron, 1st Coast Regiment, Royal Malta Artillery. Born 1911 to Laurence and Concetta Cordina, husband of Josephine Cordina, of Zejtun. Killed on duty 11 June 1940 aged 29 years.

DEBONO PAUL. Gunner 10127, Anti Parachute Squadron, 1st Coast Regiment Royal Malta Artillery. Born 1917 to Paul Debono and Rosina Debono, nee Bajada of Msida. Killed on duty 11 June 1940 aged 23 years

GALEA JOSEPH. Bombardier 3570, Anti Parachute Squadron, 1st Coast Regiment, Royal Malta Artillery. He may have been the son of Paul and Theresa Galea, nee Cauchi of Malta. Killed in action 11 June 1940.


All were stationed at Upper Fort St Elmo and where killed during an air raid when a stick of three bombs were dropped and exploded on top of a platform of the Cavalier where they and three others were on watch duty. Gunner 3084 Michael Angelo Saliba the sixth person is mentioned on the Pembroke Military Cemetery, Memorial, Malta and not at rest in Addolorata Cemetery.
