ULTRA decrypts of German Army Gruppe West, dated 23rd & 24th September 1944, intercepted at the conclusion of the airborne battle at Arnhem/Oosterbeek. They relate to movements of General von Zangen's 15th Army, comprising 100,000 men, attempting to withdraw north-east across the River Scheldt to the Walcheren Islands and thence into southern Holland, where they could join the German defences.
