BUGGINS Alfred Henry. Private 43447, 2nd Worcestershire Regiment died 9 November 1918 aged 30. Born 1888 at Weethley Warwickshire to Alfred Henry and Mary Ann Buggins, nee Harris of Stanway, nr. Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. In 1911 he was an estate labourer. At rest in Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
BUGGINS Frank. Private 61589, 12th Australian Reinforcement died on Friday 18 October 1918 at 8 am at sea from influenza on board HMAT A37 Barambah and buried at sea the same day at 11-10 am. Born 19 October 1897 at Dysart, Fife to Alfred Henry and Mary Ann Buggins, of Stanway, nr. Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton, Hampshire.
Some notes from his army records - He joined 25 June 1918 at Broadmeadow Camp, Victoria Australia aged 20 years and 8 months. He resided at West Boort, Victoria, Australia and worked as a farm labourer. He embarked from Melbourne for England on HMAT A37 Barambah admitted to medical quarters on the ship 12 October 1918 suffering from influenza and he passed away 18 October 1918 at 8am, buried at sea at 11-10 am same day.
THOMBS Henry Charles. Private 20502, 1st Gloucestershire Regiment died of wounds 21 August 1916 aged 24. Born at Ebrington, Gloucestershire to Charles and Ellen Thombs, of Wood Stanway, Winchcombe, Glos. Brother of Hubert who also fell. In 1911 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Wood Stanway, Winchcombe Gloucestershire, occupation groom gardener At rest in Millencourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. His other brother Charles also served in the same regiment but survived the war
THOMBS Hubert. Private 17699, 8th Gloucestershire Regiment died 4 October 1917. Born 1897 at Littleton, Worcestershire to Charles and Ellen Thombs, of Wood Stanway, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Brother of Henry Charles who also fell. In 1911 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Wood Stanway, Winchcombe Gloucestershire, occupation plough boy aged 14, Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium. His other brother Charles also served in the same regiment but survived the war
TOWNSEND Ernest James. Private 71759, 108 Battery, 23rd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery died 21 December 1914. Born at Stanway Gloucestershire son of Mr F J and Mrs K Townsend, of Taddington, Broadway, Worcestershire. At rest in Manchester Southern Cemetery, Lancashire
LANE Francis. Private 16238 10th Service Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment killed in action 13 October 1915 aged 32. Born at Pershore Worcestershire enlisted at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Son of Frank Lane, of Temple Guiting, Winchcombe, Glos; husband of Annie Lane, of Thatch Cottage, High Street., Broadway, Worcestershire. Commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.

CHARTERIS Lord, Hugo Francis. Captain Royal Gloucestershire Hussars died 23 April 1916 aged 32. Son of the 11th Earl and Countess of Wemyss, of Gosford, Aberlady, Edinburgh, husband of Lady Elcho (nee Lady Violet Catherine Manners (now Lady Violet Benson), 32, Montagu Square, London. His brother, Yvo Alan Charteris also fell. Commemorated on the Jerusalem Memorial, Israel and Palestine (including Gaza)
CHARTERIS The Hon Elcho Yvo Alan. Second Lieutenant 1 Grenadier Guards (Special Reserve) died 17 October 1915 aged 19. Son of 11th Earl of Wemyss and Countess of Wemyss, of 62, Cadogan Square, London. His brother, Lord Hugo Francis also fell. At rest in Sally-Labourse Communal Cemetery, France.
MITCHELL Charles Richard Gerald. Lieutenant 6th Dragoon Guards (Carabiners) died 1 April 1918 aged 33. Son of Mary H. Mitchell, of Green Hedges, Rye, Sussex, and the late R A H. Mitchell. Commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme France.
EWINGTON William James. Private 11124, 7th Gloucestershire Regiment died 8 August 1915 aged 22. Son of William Ewington, of The Green, Preston, Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey (including Gallipoli)
STARKEY Frederick John Pratt. Private 48814, 6th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers died 8 November 1918 aged 39. Son of John and Catherine Starkey, of Stanway, Winchcombe, Glos., husband of Fanny Sarah Starkey, 3, Fairfax Villas, Cromwell Avenue, Cheshunt, Herts. Served with Cheshire Regt. in Macedonia. At rest in Dourlers Communal Cemetery Extension, Nord France.
