This is a portrait of Samuel Edmund Falkiner (1792-1867).

Samuel Edmund Falkiner Born 1791 at Bath, Somerset to Sir Samuel Falkiner 2nd Baronet and Sarah Leslie.

Samuel joined the 61st Regiment of Foot (South Glos Regiment) at the age of just 12. Samuel was wounded at the Battle of Salamanca on 22nd July 1812 aged 20, but would survive his injuries, and live to the age of 75.

23 July 1834 he married Mary Bouwens by Licence at St Mary-Le-Bone, Middlesex

Letters of Administration (with the Will annexed) of the Personal estate and effects of Sir Samuel Edmund FALKINER Sir (Bart) formerly of 7 Wimpole Street, Cavendish Square, but late of 28 Welbeck Street, Cavendish Square, Middlesex, Baronet deceased who died 30 December 1867 at 28 Welbeck Street aforesaid were granted at the Principal Registry to Sir Samuel Edmund Falkiner of Greenhook House Horndean in the County of Southampton, Baronet the Son one of the Residuary Legatees named in the said Will he having been first sworn.
