Pte 24698, F Coy, 2nd Battalion, enlisted on the 12th October 1915 aged 14 years and 19 days as Boy Soldier, height 4 feet 10 inches. He was posted to Limrick, Ireland (Now Southern Ireland). On the evening on the 26th April 1920 he was shot in the head by person unknown with a relover at about 10-36 pm (2236hrs) at the Cattle Yard of OConnell Avenue Limerick whilst returning to barracks from recreational exercise which had official sanction. He died in the Military Hospital, Limrick at 1-20am on the 27th May 1920. He was the son of Arthur and Mary of 66. South Street, Leek, Staffordshire, later moved to Wrexham
This was the period of the Irish War of Independence began on the 21st of January 1919 and ended with a truce on the 11th of July 1921.
