PYBUS, George William

PYBUS, George William, Private 39359, 13th Duke of Wellington's West Riding regiment killed in action in France 29th September 1918 aged 18. He was the son of George and Harriet Jane of 117, Westgate, Pickering, Yorkshire. He is commemorated on his parents memorial at Pickering Cemetery, Yorkshire and is at rest in Vieille-Chapelle New Military Cemetery, Lacouture, Pas de Calais, France
Some notes from what is left of his Army record. Enlisted on the 24th September 1917 aged 18yrs and 2 months. Lived at 10, Castle Road, Pickering, Yorkshire, occupation Cards dispatcher. Next of kin his father, same address. Called up for service on the26th October 1917 and posted to 7th Training Reserve Battalion as Private 973. He was posted to the 4th Reserve, West Riding Regiment. On the 1st April 1918 to the 13th Base Depot for reserve purposes. He was then posted to the 5th battalion where his joined his unit at Etaples, France. He was then transferred to the 13th Battalion in Etaples on the 3rd September 1918 and he was killed in action in the field on the 29th September 1918. Served a total of 339 days.
