- Private 24150, Peter CONDLIFFE, 11th Cheshire Regiment died 10th August 1919 aged 25. He was the son of Moses and Elizabeth. Native of Crewe and he served in France
Some notes from his army records. He enlisted at Chester on the 1st January 1915 and gave his address as 32, Holland Street, Crewe and his occupation as a labourer. He embarked Southampton 25th September 1915 for France. On the 3rd July 1916 at Thiepval, he received a gunshot wound the his neck/throat and head and was taken to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station. On the 8th July 1916 he was admitted 92nd Field Ambulance, the next day, 9th transferred to 9th General Hospital, Rouen and later that day sent to England on Hospital Ship Aberdonian. (This was a small ship with accommodation for 245casualties.) to Military Hospital, Bethnal Green, London. He was medically discharged unfit for war service on the 19th July 1917 at Shrewsbury, Shropshire He had served 2 yrs and 202 days.
