“Mervyn Johnson killed on 15/02/1993 aged 38 off duty. Shot outside his home, Highfern Gardens, Highfield, Belfast. Shot by the IRA in Belfast as he was wheeling a child’s bicycle to his mother in laws house a few doors from his own home. A car drew up along side and a gunman fired hitting Mervyn four times. A second gunman then got out of the car and fired three more rounds from very close range into his head. He was married with two children and off duty at the time of his death.”

Ranger Waller was on leave from his base in Cyprus was shot and killed in north Belfast. Ranger Steven Waller, 23, a member of the Royal Irish Regiment, was hit in the chest and legs and died later in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast.
He was visiting his mother in the Old Park district when he was shot. Two gunmen, thought to be from the IRA, opened fire after his wife tried to slam the door in their faces. The gunmen escaped in a red Ford Sierra hijacked earlier in the republican Ardoyne district. The vehicle was later found abandoned.
