Mathew John WRIGHT. 2nd Lieutenant, C Coy, 14th Royal Irish Rifles.
Born 23 February 1886 at Springfield (now called Springfield Road) Newtownards, 4th son of Rev William and Charlotte McWilliams Wright nee Robinson of Newtownards.

Irish 1911 With his parents and siblings at 21, Circular Street, Newtownards, occupation, timber merchant assistant.
Killed in action 1st July 1916 aged 28 years at Thiepval France (1st day of the Battle of the Somme)
Commemorated on the family headstone at the family plot at Movilla Cemetery Newtownards County Down, Northern Ireland, also on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
