Mary Ann GROUNDS, (nee Dyble). Wife of Sergeant William Francis Humphrey Grounds, 15th Battery, 10th Brigade, Royal Artillery died at Fort Ricasoli 1st October 1877 aged 29. William Francis Humphrey Grounds married at Fareham, Hampshire 1868 to Mary Ann Dyble.
At rest in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta. She left a husband on two children. Alice Mary V(Victoria) born 1874 and William Arthur born 1876.

William Francis Humphrey GROUNDS was born on the 19th May 1842 to William and Elizabeth and baptised on the 12th June 1842. His parents were living at Woolwich Barracks, and his father was in the Horse Artillery. At some stage he joined the Royal Artillery and gained the rank of Sergeant with 15th Battery, 10th Brigade, Royal Artillery and was stationed at Fort Ricasoli, Malta in 1877. In 1881 he was now working as Licenced victualler and living with his second wife, Sarah and his children at the Welsh Harp Inn at 1 Market Place, Waltham. 1911, still a licenced victualler now living at 10 The Hard, Portsea, Portsmouth. He had been married to Sarah for 32 years. (C 1879) his first wife died in 1877.

At rest in Tabraxia Cemetery is this child. Henry Albert Francis Cameron Grounds aged 1 year, 3 months and 22 days. Son of Sergeant Grounds, Royal Artillery. This child died at Fort Monoel 28th August 1880.

He lived at Chequers Inn, Quay Street, Fareham, Hampshire and died 8th August 1915. Probate in London 18th September to William Cocks, chief constable and Sarah his widow.
