Marine F W Wint

Royal Marines preparing to take their fallen comrade ashore at Seidisfiord, for burial. Marine Wint was the single fatality from the mine explosion.

Marine Wint (CH/X 100992) going ashore for his funeral 5th March 1942. Marine Wint was killed when HMS Sheffield struck a mine on the way to a rendezvous with HMS King George V. The mine exploded on March 3rd 1942, at 9.16pm, and left a 35ft long hole in the hull.
