Mabel Olive CRAGGS. Nurse VAD (Hertford Detachment).

Born 1878 at Stockton on Tees, County Durham to William Colbourne Craggs and Olive Craggs nee Knight.

2 April 1911 on duty in a hospital in Great Portland Street, London. Residence prior to her posting to France was, Caronida, Latchford, Warrington. 6 October 1914 Nursing Sister at British Red Cross Voluntary Aid Detachment, Hospital at the Hotel Astoria, Paris.

Taken ill with intestinal trouble and transferred to the Hertford British Hospital, Paris, France where she died 20 January 1915 aged 33.

At rest in Levallois-Perret Communal Cemetery, Paris, France

Following extract from The British Journal of Nursing dated 30 January 1915 -
THE PASSING BELL.
We greatly regret to record the death, at the Hertford British Hospital, Paris, of Sister Craggs, who went out under the British Red Cross Society. to work in the hospital at the Hotel Astoria, Paris. Miss Craggs was trained at the Hertford British Hospital and was moved there when taken ill with the intestinal trouble to which she unhappily succumbed on the 20th inst.
