My own services medals from my time in the Irish Military between 1976 - 1997.

United Nations U.N.I.F.I.L. Peacekeeping Mission Medal.

Republic of Ireland,

1. AN BONN SEIRBHISE - THE SERVICE MEDAL.

awarded to an officer, non-commissioned officer or private of the Permanent Defence Forces, or to a member of the Army Nursing, or Chaplaincy Services who possesses the qualifying time period for the award.

FRONT - The figure of Eire is placing a laurel wreath on the head of a kneeling soldier. The inscription in Gaelic An Bonn Seirbise, partially surrounds the form of the soldier, with a small spray of laurel to the right of Eire.

For 10 years service the ribbon is plain St. Patrick's blue, for 15 years service the ribbon is changed to one with a yellow centre stripe, and the addition of a bar, for 21 years service a further bar with 21 is added to the ribbon.

2. AN BONN CHOSANTOIRI SIOCHANA NA NAISIUN AONTAITHE - The United Nations Peacekeeping Medal.

In 1989, a medal to be known as An Bonn Chosantoiri Siochanna na Naisiun Aontaithe was introduced. It is awarded to a member or former member of the Permanent Defence Force or to a former member of the Chaplaincy Service who qualifies or has qualified for the award of a medal in respect of service with the United Nations mission or a United Nations mandated mission and who is otherwise eligible for the award of a UN Peacekeepers medal. Only to be awarded once to any one person.

Front - A female figure representative of Eire standing on the shoreline releasing a dove over the sea, the dove holds an olive spray in its beak and on the horizon is a skein of wild geese.Designed by Comdt. William Campbell (Retired) and Mr. Jim Hogan.

United Nations U.N.I.F.I.L. Peacekeeping Mission Medal,

United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon.

Awarded to those who complete over 90 days service in Mission area of Operations.

1978-2004 U.N.I.F.I.L I Mission Period.

June 2011 - Ongoing, U.I.N.I.F.I.L. II Mission Period
