John TURLEY

Extended Description
John TURLEY. Bombardier 8260, No.1 Depot, Royal Field Artillery. Born 1887 to Armel and Ellen Turley. 1891 he was residing with his parents and siblings at Vine Row, Snedhill, Shropshire. 1901 with his parents and siblings at 878 Vine Cottakes, Prior Lee, Shropshire, occupation, coalminer. 1911 boarder at the home of the Hope family at 40 Crompton Street, Hallam Fields, Ilkeston, occupation, blast furnace labourer. He married Maud Hornby 24 October 1914 at St John the Evangelist, Derbyshire both aged 27 and both residing at 1 Thurston Street, Ilkeston. He died from the effects of military service at Folkestone, Kent 8 December 1918 aged 31 years. His widow was granted a war gratuity 5 September 1919 revised 27 October 1919.
