John TREADLE

John TREADLE. Private241856 formerly 5425. 1/6th South Staffordshire Regiment.

Born 1888 at Kings Norton, Warwickshire to Henry and Fanny Emily Treadle nee Parry. 1901 residing with his parents and siblings at 81 Ethel Road, Smethwick, Warwickshire, occupation aged 13, newspaper boy hawker. 1911 with his parents and siblings at 53 Gladys Road, Bearwood, Smethwick, occupation, wash house man, laundry. Husband of Alice, nee Venmore. Killed in action 2 September 1916. His widow was granted a war gratuity on the 24 January 1918 revised 21 November 1919. Commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France.

This poppy cross was at the Staffordshire Regiment Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire on the 11 November 2018
