SEDDON, John. Military Medal. Private 10931, 2nd South Lancashire Regiment died of wounds received in action on the 23rd October 1916 aged 25. He was the son of James and Jane of Leigh.
He is commemorated on his parents memorial in Leigh Cemetery, Lancashire and he is at rest in Puchevillers British Cemetery, Somme, France.
Most of his army record are water damaged. He joined up on the 19th August 1914 aged 23 and 274 days. He lived with his parents at 103 Bradshaw gate Leigh and was employed as a collier. He embarked for France with the 2nd Battalion on the 15th December 1915 from Southampton and marched into No 3, Infantry Base depot, Rouen the next day and he then joined his battalion at the front on the 2nd January 1916. He was wounded in action on the 21st October and died of wounds on the 23rd October 1916 at 44 Casualty Clearing Station. He was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette Dated 21st December 1916.
