John McDONALD. Lance Sergeant 744, Army Cyclist Corps. Born 1881 in Belfast, Ireland. 1911 residing with his wife and family at 59 Asley Street, Belfast, occupation, picture frame master.
Served in France 4 October 1915. Discharged from the army 11 January 1918 and died in a District Asylum 22 December 1918 aged 37 years, insane. Husband of Martha Amelia McDonald, of 13, Lismain Street, Ravenhill Avenue, Belfast. Her maiden name may have been Jackson and her parents Joseph and Annie of 61 Annadale Street, Belfast (1901 census). His widow was granted a war gratuity 28 February 1919 revised 15 May 1919.
Laid to rest at rest in Dundonald Cemetery, Belfast 26 December 1918 in Section E Grave 288. The remainder of his family are also interred with him.
