Died 16 April 1918 aged 29
Son of George Edward and Edith Mary Nicklin, of 86, Port Street, Evesham, husband of Mildred Agnes Fagg (formerly Nicklin, nee Downes), of Lawsaema House, Great Hampton, Evesham, Worcs.
Supplement to the London Gazette 16 September 1918.
2nd Lieutenant John Harry Nicklin, Worcestershire Regt, for conspicious gallantry and devotion to duty when sent out with a small party to deceive the enemy as the real line of defence. He carried out his work so well that he held up a superior force of the enemy for 8 hours, and althought outflanked and heavily shelled he withdrew his party witht he loss of only one man. He inflicted heavy losses on the enemy and by his conduct inspired his men with confidence.
Commemorated at Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
